Introduction

 

We welcome your participation in the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair. Each year, more than 300 students from the Sacramento Region compete for awards, prizes and college scholarships. You will also get the chance to meet some of the outstanding scientists and engineers in our region.

 

How to do a Science Fair Project

Who Can Participate in SRSEF?

 

Students in grades 6 through 12 are eligible to enter the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair (SRSEF).  The Fair serves students in public, private and parochial schools in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin, Yolo, Yuba, Sutter, Solano, and Amador counties and is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and the California State Science Fair.  SRSEF complies with the Intel ISEF Rules for Pre-College Science Research.

 

Senior Division: Students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible to enter individual or teams projects.  Team projects may have a maximum of three members.

 

Junior Division: Students in grades 6 through 8 are eligible to enter individual or team projects.  Team projects may have a maximum of three members.

 

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • January 13 – Scientific Review Committee (SRC) Pre-Approval Applications Due

  • February 13 – All Student Applications Due

Please refer to the 2010-11 Intel ISEF Rules and Guidelines for complete requirements and additional regulations. 

 

Maximum Size of Project

  • Depth (front to back):  30 inches or 76 centimeters

  • With (side to side):  48 inches or 122 centimeters

  • Height (floor to top):  108 inches or 275 centimeters

Maximum project sizes include all project materials, supports, and demonstrations for public and judges.  If a table is used, it becomes part of the project and must not itself exceed the allowed dimensions nor may the table plus any part of the project exceed the allowed dimensions.

 

NOTE:  The student's name and or school should NOT appear anywhere on the project display.
