Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair

Introduction

 

We welcome your participation in the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair. Each year, more than 300 students from the Sacramento Region compete for awards, prizes and college scholarships.  We look forward to working with you to promote further enrichment of science and engineering at schools in the region.

Who Can Participate in SRSEF?

 

Students in grades 6 through 12 are eligible to enter the Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair (SRSEF).  The Fair serves students in public, private and parochial schools in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin, Yolo, Yuba, Sutter, Solano, and Amador counties and is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and the California State Science Fair.  SRSEF complies with the Intel ISEF Rules for Pre-College Science Research.

 

Senior Division: Students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible to enter individual or teams projects.  Team projects may have a maximum of three members.

 

Junior Division: Students in grades 6 through 8 are eligible to enter individual or team projects.  Team projects may have a maximum of three members.

 

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • January 14 – Scientific Review Committee (SRC) Pre-Approval Applications Due

  • February 14 – All Student Applications Due

The Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair has teamed up with the KCRA Morning News on MY58 (Comcast Cable Channel 4) to help students, parents and teachers tackle science projects step-by-step … from picking a topic to preparing the project board! 

 

Teacher's Guide to Science Projects

The Teacher's Guide to Science Projects was developed by Science Buddies to provide teachers with everything they need to assign, manage, and evaluate a science project program in the classroom, including lots of tips to make a science project a fun educational experience.
