SCIENCE MONDAYS

The Sacramento Regional Science & Engineering Fair has teamed up with the KCRA Morning News on MY58 (Comcast Cable Channel 4) to help students and parents tackle science projects step-by-step … from picking a topic to preparing the project board!  Below are the links to the segments we’ve aired so far.

January 4th – The Fair Foundation’s Executive Director Chris Voight joined KCRA’s Teo Torres and Meteorologist Eileen Javora to kick off our Science Monday segments.  The viewers learned about the importance of science fairs, the kinds of projects students can do and the prizes and scholarships you can win. You can watch it here: http://www.kcra.com/video/22119119/

January 11th – The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee got students and parents started with an explanation of the Scientific Method and why it’s so important. She also picked a topic for the project that we’re doing with KCRA’s Teo Torres. January 25th – The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee and KCRA’s Teo Torres put their hypothesis to the test! We take viewers through the experiment stage, testing to see whether higher SPF ratings on sunblock results in better UV protection. http://www.kcra.com/video/22332979/

February 1st – The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee and KCRAs Teo Torres analyze the results of our experiment to see if our hypothesis was correct! We also look at the importance of making a clear conclusion, keeping a lab notebook and putting together a quality project board for the science fair. http://www.kcra.com/video/22400867
