The Sacramento Regional
Science & Engineering Fair has teamed up with the KCRA Morning News on
MY58 (Comcast Cable Channel 4) to help students and parents tackle science
projects step-by-step … from picking a topic to preparing the project
board! Below are the links to the segments we’ve aired so far.
January 4th
– The Fair Foundation’s Executive Director Chris Voight joined KCRA’s Teo
Torres and Meteorologist Eileen Javora to kick off our Science Monday
segments. The viewers learned about the importance of science fairs, the
kinds of projects students can do and the prizes and scholarships you can

January 11th
– The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee got students and parents started with an
explanation of the Scientific Method and why it’s so important. She also
picked a topic for the project that we’re doing with KCRA’s Teo Torres.
Mira Loma High School students Ashish Nag and Sruti Modekurty also joined
us to talk about their project topic!

January 18th
– The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee walked viewers through the basic steps
of asking a question for a science project and doing the background
research. The segment focused on the best resources for good information
and what to look out for when doing research online.

January 25th
– The Fair Foundation’s Alisa Lee and KCRA’s Teo Torres put their
hypothesis to the test! We take viewers through the experiment stage,
testing to see whether higher SPF ratings on sunblock results in better UV
protection.

February 1st – The Fair Foundation’s
Alisa Lee and KCRAs Teo Torres analyze the results of our experiment to
see if our hypothesis was correct! We also look at the importance of
making a clear conclusion, keeping a lab notebook and putting together a
quality project board for the science fair.
